The daily Hospodárske noviny published an article on the Slovak SMART City Index on 28 May 2021 as part of the Reality and development supplement. The title of the article is “The best city in Slovakia is Bratislava”.
Innovative solutions are slowly coming to Slovakia that can lay the foundation stone for so-called smart cities. Whether it is shared bicycles, smart intersections or hybrid buses, cities and villages can monitor progress in this area thanks to the Slovak SMART City Index. This academic project was created as a result of the cooperation of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of St. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava and the Ministry of Economy at the Smart Cities Workshop. The first data comparing Slovak smart governments were presented in November 2019. The comparison is based on six reference areas, which are smart governance, people and communities, the environment, life and services, mobility and also the economy. Slovak academics relied on data from Professor Giffinger’s study at the Technical University of Vienna and filled the Slovak index with available statistical data from local governments, districts and regions.
